NINTENDO has slumped to its first ever quarterly loss. The games group also cut full-year profits forecasts, blaming a strong yen and poor sales on a lack of hit titles for its Wii and 3DS. The firm will slash the price of its 3DS game player by a third from August 12, in a bid to kickstart sluggish sales.
The move lent weight to critics who believe the firm is too focused on hardware when people are increasingly playing games on the Internet or smart-phones.
